Changes

Wow, it's so amazing how much one move can make. I was supposed to be cleaning, rearranging and moving some things and then the idea for another story came into my head. I could see the story unfold, as I do with all of my ideas, but I never have names for these people. I can't just pick any name. It has to be one of those 'it was meant for you' names. So as I am typing the story out using her and him. Then when others come in I go with first person, second and so on then I can change it to the one with 'color eyes' or 'hair.' Then at some point the image of who they would most likely resemble will come to me but I don't want to call them by that name so I have to jumble the words around, sometimes this works, sometimes it don't. But as I am reaching page 40 I have a turning point and names spill out. To me its not a story unless the characters have names, then it becomes real. Well I have to get back to the story...I'm so anxious to see what's going to happen next.

Sistah's with Sass

Was invited to an event at the Little Creek Norfolk Public Library and I have to say that I was surprised at the results. Out of all the Authors that were invited to come I was the only one that showed. It was a great opportunity for me to shine as an Author. Nervous about speaking alone I was able to overcome that when I got comfortable with the women and men that showed. It was a good crowd of about 10 that came. They asked questions, wanted advice and I gave them answers to all. I told them about my books, and read an excerpt from Hypnotik.
They laughed and murmured about the story. After that a gentleman wanted an interview. I hadn't realized that the event was being recorded and that someone from the library would be taking pictures. Proud of myself, having curated orders for the entire series, we went to another room where there were refreshments for all. We laughed and joked more and talked about a lot of things. I was asked to come back and the ladies want to do a book discussion. Excited I cant wait to see what the ladies think about Alex and Du'qouis.

Using an experience

Currently I have been home for the last five days due to an illness. Granted nothing happens without a reason. I have used the time to catch up on some reading and then adding the illness I have to a character. Being able to express the pain into written word so that the reader can in turn feel what the character is going through or being able to relate to the incident brings me that much closer to bringing a character to life. I enjoy writing now that I have a means to express my thoughts and share them with the world.

Hypnotik moment.....

Recently I had a coworker purchase book one of my Hypnotik series. I asked him if he wanted to get the complete set because I had them but he wanted to wait. He wanted to read it because he heard  that it was good but told me that he would read it later because he was already reading something. He took the book with him when he went bowling and a woman who was waiting started reading the book, needless to say he didn't get the book back, she had to finish. Now she was asking him for book two which he didn't purchase. He came to me and I didn't have any at the time. He told me that she was anxious to find out what happened.
Would this mean that he would get his book back?
Nope, his book got passed to another......looks like I need to make a trip to the bowling alley soon.
